Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to the Children's Dental Center FAQ page! Here, we answer some common questions to help you and your child have a smooth and enjoyable dental experience. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us!
When should my child have their first dental visit?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child’s first dental examination occurs by their first birthday. Early visits help set a strong foundation for good oral health.
What can I expect during my child’s first visit?
During the first visit, our team will conduct a thorough examination of your child’s teeth and gums. We will also provide guidance on proper oral hygiene practices. The visit is designed to be comfortable and informative for both you and your child.
Can I accompany my child during their appointment?
For children aged 3 and older, we kindly ask parents to remain in the waiting room during the exam. This helps our staff build a rapport with your child and engage them in their dental care. After the appointment, the doctor will meet with you to discuss your child’s oral health and any necessary treatments.
How do I schedule an appointment?
To schedule an appointment, you can contact us directly or conveniently request an appointment online. Our friendly staff will assist you in finding a convenient time for your visit.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We request at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to accommodate other patients and maintain the flow of care. Please note that missed appointments may extend your child’s treatment time and cause worsening dental problems and increased pain for your child.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept various payment methods, including cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We also offer CareCredit for those who prefer extended payment options.
Do you accept dental insurance?
Yes, we accept dental insurance. Please present your dental insurance card at each appointment. If you provide your complete insurance information, we will submit claims on your behalf.
How often should my child visit the dentist?
We recommend that children receive a dental exam, cleaning, and fluoride treatment every six months. Annual dental x-rays may also be necessary to monitor your child’s oral health.
What should I do if my child has a dental emergency?
If your child experiences a dental emergency, please contact us immediately. Our team will provide guidance on how to manage the situation and get your child the care they need as soon as possible.
How can I help my child maintain good oral hygiene at home?
Encourage your child to brush their teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and to floss daily. Limit sugary snacks and drinks, and schedule regular dental check-ups to ensure your child’s oral health remains a priority.
