Children’s Dental Center recently hosted Sioux Empire Smiles, a free one day dental clinic for children.
Many children in South Dakota do not receive regular dental care. The lack of dental care and the pain caused by it can have an effect on children both academically and behaviorally. Sioux Empire Smiles was created to provide services to low-income and under-insured youth in the Sioux Empire. This year we were able to provide dental care to over 150 children. Thank you to Southeastern District Dental Society, South Dakota Dental Foundation, Sioux Empire United Way and Delta Dental of South Dakota Foundation for making this event possible. We also want to thank the many area dentists and their support staff who donated their time and services to provide dental screenings, treatments, cleanings and education to these children. We are proud of our dentists and staff for their contributions to this event and we look forward to the opportunity to serve again next year.
